Our Trip to Madrid

View of the city from the Bellas Artes Azotea (Rooftop)

As you may know, my husband and I went on vacation recently to Madrid and Rome. We had an amazing time in both cities. On this post, we will be talking about Madrid.

Madrid is one of the most beautiful and dynamic cities we have ever been to. Full of energy and life, it combines both old and new, traditional and contemporary, all in one sprawling, yet very walkable, city center.

We spent five fantastic days in this city and loved every minute of it. My husband and I are not big museum or monument people. We appreciate (some) art, but what we really like to partake of when we travel is the food and drink of the area, and its people and pastimes. In our opinion, that's how you get to taste the real flavor of a place.

We took a ton of pictures- too many to post. Here I have selected just a few of the ones that, I believe, show how we saw this city. I just realized that all of the food pictures were taken with my phone. If you want to check those out, you can go to my Instagram here. We also went to a Tablado (what they call a Flamenco show), which is a total MUST if you go to Spain, but they did not allow flash photography and it was pretty dark so we did not take pictures there. I hope you enjoy!

Bellas Artes Azotea- a rooftop bar/restaurant with amazing views. People sit around and sip on their beverage of choice while catching up and enjoying the views that you see on the two pics above.

Parque del Retiro (Retiro Park)- Huge park with gorgeous lawns and flower gardens in a quiet part of the city. You can rent paddle boats, walk around and enjoy the entertainment (such as accordion players or the human statues), or just sit on a bench, relax, and enjoy the afternoon.

From wide streets with tons of cars

To narrow sidestreets accessible only by foot or bicycles

                                                                                    Don't stop dreaming

Ten Things You May Not Know About Me

Now that I've been blogging for almost nine months, I thought it would be fun to do a post to let you in on a few fun facts about me. Here we go...

1) I can't really swim, only doggy paddle.

2) I am deathly afraid of lizards. Which is really inconvenient because I live in South Florida and they are everywhere!

3) I was born in Cuba.

4) In addition to English, I also speak Spanish, and am pretty fluent in Italian.

5) I love all things Italian!

6) My favorite drinks are Dirty Martini and Negroni.

7) I don't have kids or pets. I like kids and animals, I just don't have any.

8) I grew up in Queens, New York.

9) I love foreign languages. I really enjoy watching foreign TV shows even though I don't understand what they're saying.

10) The one thing I will never, ever, ever wear is a denim mini skirt. They look horrible on me!

I wish you a great start to the week, loves. I just got back from our trip to Madrid and Rome so I'll see  you back here on Wednesday with the post from Madrid!

Good morning and happy Wednesday, lovelies! Just a quick note to let you know that I'll be away on vacation and will not be posting for a bit.

As you know by now, my husband and I love food and wine so we are going to be eating and drinking our way through Madrid and Rome one taberna and trattoria at a time!

I will be documenting my travels on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter so be sure you follow along!

I wish you a great rest of the week and see you back here soon!!!

Fall-ing for Plaid

Plaid Shirt: Forever 21 (sold out, similar here and here and jonesing for this one) Shorts: Rag and Bone/Jean (similar here and here), Heels: Jeffrey Campbell (old, liking these), Bag: Chanel, Watch: Swatch, Sunglasses: Versace, Lipstick: Mac "Ruby Woo"

Happy Monday, everybody! I hope you had a great weekend. Ours was spent chilling and relaxing at the pool enjoying some fantastic weather. Low 80"s and sunny, and at times less than 50% humidity with a nice breeze blowing = perfection. I know I've voiced my dislike for the heat and humidity that we have down here during the months of July, August, and September. It's seriously unbearable at times. But, from mid October to late June, we have some of the best weather around! So it's very much worth the three months of less than desirable temps to have nine months of paradise.

It's not feeling like fall just yet, but we are slowly starting the transition to cooler temps, and nothing says fall quite like plaid. That said, I leave you with this fall-ish outfit I wore the other day to have drinks and dinner at our favorite Italian restaurant.

Wishing you all a fantastic start to your week!
