Red and White

Top: Nordstrom (available in 4 prints!), Jeans: Siwy DenimShoes: Sam Edelman (also like these, and these), Bag: Prada, Watch: Fossil, Necklace: Marc by Marc Jacobs (old, also love this one and it's on sale right now!) Bracelets: Maria Paola Jewelry, Sunglasses: Versace, Lipstick: YSL Rouge Volupte #15 "Extreme Coral"

Hello, friends! How was your weekend? Ours was good. We did a little shopping, a little walking, and of course, a little eating and drinking with friends. In my book, that's pretty much perfection.

By the way, the top I'm wearing is one of my purchases from this weekend. It's so soft and comfortable, and I absolutely love the bright red color and subtle floral print. And when combined with the white jeans (or shorts), it's absolutely perfect for the warmer weather! I like this top so much that I'm also thinking of getting it in this print.

Wishing you a great start to the week! See you back here on Wednesday as I show you more of my recent purchases!

Comfortable, but Put-Together

Top: Anthropologie (available in 4 colors!), Pants: Anthropologie (on sale right now, and available in 2 colors!), Bag: DVF (old, also love this and this) Shoes: Manolo Blahnik "BB in 105mm"(similar lower priced options here, and here) Sunglasses: Prada, Watch; Fossil, Lipstick: Mac "Mac Red"

When it comes to dressing, to me, comfort is key. And I firmly believe that you can be comfortable and still be put-together at the same time. While the great majority of my clothes and shoes are comfortable, some pieces are definitely more so than others. This outfit, in its entirety, is a great example.

This top is loose and flowy, and does not require a tuck. The pants are super soft, and also flowy, and have an elastic waistband- which is pretty much the epitome of comfort. The shoes, although they are four inches in height, are hands down one of the most comfortable heels I own (I have this particular style in many, many colors, precisely for that reason). Now, if you're tall, you can easily swap out the heels for some flat sandals; however, at 5'0", I don't have that luxury! #smallbutmighty

Have a fantastic weekend, lovelies! See you back here on Monday!

P.S. If you're not already following me on Instagram, you should follow along @girlinahotcity. I not only post photos of my outfits, but also of places I visit, food and drink, and other fun things!

Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale- My Hot Weather Picks

The heat is on, people! Here, in Miami, we've been experiencing temps well into the mid 80's already, and the humidity is starting to climb. With that, I've got hot weather clothing on the brain.

Below are just a few of my picks from Nordstrom's awesome half yearly sale! In addition to clothing, I've also linked some cool accessories that I feel are great for summer. There are obviously many more items that I really like/want, but I'm sparing you (and my wallet!), and only choosing some. ;-)

If you haven't already, make sure you check out this sale! It's over on May 31st.

Dock of the Bay

Top: Gypsy 05 (old, but loving this, and this), Shorts: Rag & Bone/Jean (similar here, here, and here ), Shoes: Dolce Vita (on Sale right now, and also available in black, and snake print), Bag: Furla (old)

Hello there, my friends! I hope you had a fantastic holiday weekend! We went to NYC with a few close friends of ours and had a blast. I swear, my husband and I go there twice a year and never, ever, get tired of it. There's always something new to do and see. This time, we walked over the Brooklyn Bridge, which is something that, for whatever reason, we had not done before. If you haven't walked over the Brooklyn Bridge already, I recommend you do it the next time you go to the Big Apple. You can enjoy great views, and once you get to Dumbo, you can enjoy some great pizza (at Ignazio's), and ice cream (at the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory). So good!

Now on to the outfit. I found these pictures in my computer (they are easily over a month old) and realized I had not posted this look yet. The top, shorts, and bag are all oldies but goodies, and they are proof that there are certain items that are definite keepers. The sandals I got a couple months ago and have been on constant rotation since. They are super comfortable and versatile, AND they are on sale right now! I wish I had gotten them in this print too, but unfortunately my size is sold out now.

By the way, don't forget to check out Nordstrom's Half Yearly Sale going on right now through May 31st! You can save up to 40% on a ton of great styles for you and your family. Stop by on Thursday to see my picks!

These Shoes are (Not) Made for Walkin'

Top: Anthropologie (available in 4 colors!), Jeans: Citizens of Humanity "Emerson", Shoes: Christian Louboutin "So Kate", Bag; Chanel (similar options here, and here) Sunglasses: Prada, Bracelets: Maria Paola Jewelry, Lipstick: Mac, "Mac Red"

While I'm very good about purchasing pieces that not only fit my personal style, but are also comfortable and practical at the same time, sometimes, there's an item special enough that will require my making an exception. Case in point: these shoes. I love, love, love them. When I saw them, I gasped! They are elegant, classy, feminine, and have a certain edge to them; however... "comfortable" and "practical", they are not.

It's not that they're necessarily uncomfortable, per se, it's just that since they have a 5 inch heel, and no platform, they are not exactly walking shoes. These are what you would call "valet" shoes. You put them on, get in your car and drive to the restaurant/bar/lounge, valet your car right out front, walk in and immediately sit and enjoy your dinner/drinks/conversation, and then jump right back in your car, and go home and take them off.

That said, I've heard they do get easier to walk in over time. So, in the meantime, I'll just wear these beauties when I know I'll be valeting my car.

P.S. No judging, please. :-)

Eau de Coco Nut and White BB's

Tank: South Parade (bought at local boutique Tupelo Honey), Jeans: Citizens of Humanity (old, also like these and these), Shoes: Manolo Blahnik (great options here, and here ) Bag: Chloe "Drew", Bracelets: Maria Paola Jewelry

Hello there! I hope you had a great weekend. We spent our Saturday out on the water with great friends, and then came home and had a yummy dinner prepared for all of us by my bestie. Thanks, Samira. It was delicious! :-)

Now, on to the outfit. You know it was only a matter of time before I showed you another graphic tee and jean combo! I cannot deny the addiction. Plus, this outfit gave me a chance to debut my new white heels. I'm normally not a white shoe person (like, at all), but these beauties had me at hello.

Doused in Color

Dress: Eight-Sixty, Shoes: Manolo Blahnik, Earrings: Kendra Scott (similar), Sunglasses: Versace, Bag: Chanel (similar), Lipstick: Tom Ford "True Coral"

The issue with my photos is finally fixed! Hallelujah! A huge thank you to Melissa from Melissa Rose Design for bailing me out. And to my blogging friends who offered up some suggestions- I really appreciate it!

Now, on to the outfit. To me, spring and summer are all about color- vibrant, rich, and bright. This dress is a perfect example of that. I wore this look for a Kentucky Derby viewing event a couple weeks ago with a big ol' hat, and got lots of compliments. It felt perfect for the occasion!

Unfortunately, this dress is no longer available, but I have linked some other colorful options that I really like.

Have a fantastic weekend, loves, and see you back here on Monday!

Blogger Problems

Hello there, peeps! I hope you've all been having a great week. Mine has been good except for, as you may have noticed, I have not posted since last Wednesday. It's not that I haven't wanted to update the blog, it's that I have not been able to because my photos are all coming out grainy.

The photos themselves are all fine and crisp, and they translate that way when I download them into my blog post. BUT, once I hit preview, they all appear super grainy. It is the most frustrating thing, and I am the most technologically challenged person in the world, so you can imagine.

I seriously don't know what to do. To my blogging friends- Have you guys ever experienced this with Blogger? Do you know what I can do? Your suggestions are more than welcome and very much appreciated!

In the meantime, while I try to figure this out, you can follow me on Instagram @girlinahotcity

I thank you so much for your patience and your continued support. Have a great rest of the week and I hope to see you all back here by next Monday!!!

Here's a little example of what I mean...Ugh, it's horrendous!

UPDATE!!! My girl, Melissa, from Melissa Rose Design, came to my rescue!!! She just told me how to fix it, and it worked! Below is the original photo without the grain...  Granted, the photo itself is not the crispest of photos- it's a little more on the artistic side. But, still, it's better and sharper than the hot mess grainy one above!

Thank you, Melissa, you are the best! AND, thank you, all my blogging friends, for your suggestions! It's so cool to know I can count on you when I need it. xoxo

Florals, for Spring...Groundbreaking

Romper: Yumi Kim, Shoes: Sam Edelman, Bag: Chanel, Necklace and Earrings: Kendra Scott, Sunglasses: Versace, Lipstick: Mac "Show Orchid"

Hello there, peeps! Sorry for not posting yesterday, but I was having major technical issues. Thankfully, they are all resolved now- and just in time too, because I couldn't wait to show you this beautiful romper in all its glory!

This romper is, seriously, perfection. It's got a super feminine cut, a very flattering and comfortable fit (not to mention easy, I mean, it's just one piece!), and this gorgeous print. Don't get me started on this print! I was originally going to do a magenta colored pointy toe heel, but I think I made the right decision by going with the nude, naked sandal instead.

I know florals for spring is nothing new, and maybe even a little cliche (ask Miranda Priestly), but c'mon, you've got to admit that they are pretty perfect for this season. ;-)
