"Dressed Up" Casual

Embroidered Lace Top: Anthropologie (Unfortunately it's not available anymore. Linking some other cool lace tops below), Jeans: Siwy (similar for less here, and here), Shoes: Manolo Blahnik (similar for less here, and here), Beaded Clutch: Anthropologie (old, also like this, this, and this), Bracelets: Kendra Scott (here, and here), Lipstick: Tom Ford "Bruised Plum"

If you've been stopping by for any amount of time you'll have picked up on the fact that I am a pretty casual girl. I have more pairs of jeans than I care to admit, and my t-shirt/tank/sweater drawers spill over.

When I first started blogging, and visiting other blogs, my casual style became very evident to me. A lot of these other bloggers were donning beautiful flowy, frilly dresses and skirts, and here I was doing my boyfriend jeans, graphic tees, and fedoras. For a moment, I felt kind of one dimensional, like I didn't have range. So, of course, inspired by them, I went out and got some skirts and dresses to add variety to my repertoire. Some of them I loved and still wear when the mood strikes. Some I ended up giving away with the tags still on them.

All this to say, at just shy of 44 years old, I am completely comfortable with the fact that I am, at my core, a casual girl. I enjoy the occasional dress-up moment, but at the end of the day, my jeans (and tees) are always what I end up reaching for. And I am ok with that.

Here, I used this gorgeous embroidered lace top, along with a beaded clutch and eye-catching heels, to "dress up" my jeans. If you're a jeans girl like me, adding the right accessories is the perfect way to get away with wearing jeans to a place where other women might be wearing dresses. ;-)

Military

Peplum Top: Madewell (on sale! limited sizes left), Shorts: Rag & Bone/Jean (also like these, and these for less), Military Jacket: Nordstrom (old, similar here, here, and liking this vest here), Sandals: Steve Madden, Crossbody Bag: DVF (old), Lipstick: Mac "Brick-O-La"

Military jackets are a great layering option for Spring and Fall, when the temperatures are not cold enough for a full-on jacket, but you still need a little something in the mornings/evenings when there's a chill in the air. This would apply to most of the country. But, if I'm being honest, in South Florida, this could qualify as a full-on jacket. ;-)

Anyway... I got this military jacket over two years ago and I've worn it quite a bit. It's so versatile and the olive green color, surprisingly, goes well with a variety of other colors. I've worn it with a burnt orange light knit sweater, an oversized gray tee, a black/white striped top, you get the point.

Today I'm pairing it with this super cute red/white striped peplum top and cut-off shorts, and I love how all the colors work so well together. Unfortunately, this particular jacket is no longer available, but I'm linking some other cool ones below.

Wishing you a happy Wednesday, friends. Since I didn't post this Monday, I'll be posting this Friday,  so see you all back here then!

Simply Neutral

Sweater: Madewell, Jeans: Free People (similar here, here, and here), Sandals: Steve Madden, Bag: Louis Vuitton, Belt: JCrew (old), Lipstick: Tom Ford "True Coral"

As much as I love color, I also appreciate a good neutrals look every now and then. When it comes to ease of dressing, it cannot be beat. Plus, it's just so easy on the eyes too.

This sweater is a cross between a sand and bone color and it's the perfect canvas on which to layer on more neutrals or, if the mood should strike you, pops of color. I had my eye on it for quite some time, but, admittedly, did not want to pay full price for it. Then, last week, I scored it on sale plus an additional 30% off of the sale price! #winning. The styling possibilities are endless, and I know I will get a lot of wear out of it!

And these sandals- I just cannot say enough about them. They're the perfect shade and go with pretty much everything. They are an absolute must-have, in my opinion.

Wishing you a great Wednesday, friends!
